What is stopping you in your tracks?

When you do the inner work on yourself it can be fascinating to see what has been holding you back and stopping you in your tracks.

Occurrences, situations and conversations from the past that upset, embarrassed, annoyed or frustrated you, no matter how many years ago, can still be impacting you now.  

It is hard to believe I know, but it is true.

What Can Cause Limiting Beliefs and Blocks

We all have blocks and these can be caused by many things including:

  1. Being bullied by someone

  2. A flippant comment made by others about your weight, looks, clothes etc - can really affect your self esteem.

  3. A difficult relationship

  4. Losing money on an investment etc

  5. Having an embarrassing moment in public. 

  6. Physical or/and emotional abuse.

  7. Plus lots more.

Nowadays when you think of the episodes that have affected you may wonder why they have had such an influence on you.   

However in your younger days they may have really knocked your confidence or angered you.

How we may have dealt with these incidents in the past

We can often push these situations down to try and shut them out so as not to dwell on them.

Ignore them and pretend they didn’t happen (even though they hurt so much).

Put on a brave face and carry on as usual. 

Or we can get wound up by the event and it can take over and influence our decision making. 

Some of these incidents often happen in our childhood and we are told by adults to stop crying, don’t let it get to you, grow up, man up etc.  

A lot of mine happened at school and at the hands of my teacher, so we really couldn’t express our feelings and emotions then.  They would just add to the humiliation that was already playing out.  

I remember my mum used to tell me to say

‘Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me”.

I know she was only trying to help, but we now know about the energy around words and the damage and hurt that they can cause. 

Whichever way we deal with it, it can impact our lives now. 

These Blocks and Limiting Beliefs Can Be Lifted

The good news is that you can deal with these blocks and limiting beliefs quite easily when you know what they are. 

By doing the work around them, i.e. noticing the lessons, forgiveness, self love, acceptance and unconditional love you can overcome, move on and prosper. 

How you can clear them

Your soul will help you to recognise the blocks that you have, you just have to ask.

For example, if you are struggling to make money or to hold onto it and you don’t know what the block is, then try this exercise:

  1. Sit quietly for a few moments.

  2. Focus on the problem that you have.

  3. Feel into your heart space and ask your soul to show you what you need to know. 

Then notice what comes up for you as memories, feelings, words or images.  

Some of the things that you notice might make complete sense and you can easily let go of them.  Others may be a bit more puzzling, that is ok, just notice them.

When they have finished showing up for you, write them down in a list. 

When you think that you have them all then do the work around them and release them.  

Ho’oponopono

I find that Ho’oponopono, the Hawaiin forgiveness ritual, is a really effective way to clear them. 

These four sentences when said together are so powerful.  

I am sorry

Please forgive me

I love you

Thank you

There is a lot of energy around these words, which helps in the transmutation of the hurt/pain/embarrassment - whatever it is that you are holding onto.  

There are a few books on Ho’oponopono out there which explain what it is all about and how to practice it effectively.  The one that I particularly like is:

“Ho’oponopono” 

The Hawaiian forgiveness ritual is the key to your life’s fulfilment.

If you haven’t already come across it before, I can highly recommend it.  

This book explains the principles around Ho’oponopono and what the sentences actually mean and how they help.

What To Do 

One at a time focus on each of the things that soul has shown you.  You don’t need to go in too deep, just recall it.  

Then say the above sentences at least three times.

Repeat it until you have cleared it. 

Then move onto the next one memory/feeling etc and do the same again. 

Keep on going until you have cleared them all.
